marc x marc x skateorialist diy (dye it yourself)

DIY all day. i have been wanting to dye my marc jacobs white dress shirt for the longest time, gradient or some women would like to call it ombre. i finally got around to getting the dye and getting it done now that school is done. the process took about an hour, from dying, to rinsing, to washing to drying. enjoy the process in pictures.

wiener and still CHAMPION!

a few weeks ago a few buddies and i came to a little hole in the wall restaurant/diner-ish restaurant that was on diners, drive-ins and dives. I mean if you are saying you are a wiener champion then this place must have amazing hot dogs. they are known for their corn dogs also known as their “dippin’ dog.” i really didn’t wanna go all out on my order so i just got a polish and a dippin’ dog but my friends went in on their order. i have been here before so i knew what i was getting myself into. usually when my friends or myself try a new restaurant we always try to order a few items to test it out. nerd and richard did not know what they were getting themselves into. they ordered bacon dogs for themselves, Giardinara cheese fries, a triple D (dippin’ dog deluxe) and to top it off COUNTRY FRIED BACON! yes i know what you are thinking country fried + bacon = deliciousness on another level, and yes you are correct. oh yeah i forgot to mention the amazing dipping sauces they have there, there were over 15 sauces but the one i really enjoyed was the bacon infused ketchup.

when the dust has settled there was only one wiener, our stomaches. pictures don’t give the food justice, such you can scratch and sniff.

random destinations. Saint Louis, MO

wow post number 600 already?

so about a week ago my friend Lynda and I wanted to go somewhere random, a road trip even. We both have never been to Saint Louis so why not? The drive wasn’t too bad ~4 hours. Saint Louis is actually a really small city with a small downtown. We visited museums, Cardinals stadium (they were playing the Chicago Cubs which was pretty damn cool), food joints, and local neighborhoods with shops, restaurants and bars. Of course we had to visit the arch and the first ever court house. There was this super dope bar we stopped into which had the whole bar table covered in ice where it would just chill your drink while you chill and talk. They had 500 types of vodkas and the customer service was on point! Well enough text here are the photos.

please excuse my absence from the blogosphere. it is currently my last semester at Loyola University Chicago so these past few weeks have been really hectic. The last month is here and it’s time to buckle down. I will try to be posting once in a while but it is not a promise. Along with school, video projects, side projects, photo projects, work etc, is surely eating up a lot of my time.

I will be right back.

the biggest of stars.

sundays are usually spent being lazy and just chillin. so my brothers and i headed over to wicker park to get the bombest of tacos at this place called big star. fish tacos are super fresh and the pork belly is so good that you might have to slap your momma now. though i didn’t have either due to lent (2 more weeks away, can’t be anymore excited to eat red meat, fried foods and drink beer) i had the veggie portobello taco which was amazing and a side of dulce de leche milkshake. the milkshake brought me back! when i was young i used to have this filipino dessert called halo halo and it had this condensed milk added in and it was the most delicious thing ever. don’t you love it when something you get reminds you of your child hood? such a great feeling. well anyways, here are the pics hope y’all enjoy.

vietnam memorial

About a week ago a friend and I went to the Vietnam War Museum in Chicago. I have passed this place up a bunch of times when I had a motorcycle but I finally got a chance to see what was going on inside. Of course there are fees when entering a museum but when we got there an event was taking place so the admission was free so I was pretty excited about that. They had free pizza, drinks and banjo music entertainment. Along with Vietnam pieces there was also an installation of middle east war veterans. It was nice having the two side by side to see the differences and similarities of the two wars. I hope you all enjoy the pictures and maybe if you are in Chicago you can visit the museum and take in all the history.

joes, buffalo

Welcome to Buffalo Joes home of the suicide chicken wings. Due to lent I couldn’t take any photos, taste, smell, look at or touch these fried chicken wings. As soon as lent is over i will make sure to have a follow up post on these amazing wings. This not so hole in the wall but seems like a hole in the wall restaurant has been a staple to evanston for many years. It’s funny because I’ve only been to the downtown evanston location and my friend jimmy has been telling me about this location for over a year now. This place for sure has better deals, better sized wings, rib tips!, friendly staff and a shrine of michael jordan memorabilia. I mean c’mon rib tips, wings, fries and a drink for 9 bucks! It’s like I’m stealing from them. My brother and jimmy had the wings and has said that they are way better than the downtown evanston one, larger, flavorful, perfectly cooked to perfection and great to the last bone. This time i couldn’t order the wings so i ended up with the chicken burger and a broccoli and cheese baked potato. Both items were delicious. This being a wing specialty restaurant I am very surprised that the other dishes were just as good. Hope you enjoy the pictures! Hot wings in a month for a follow up post must happen.
